Default Hayes (Kent) line

(The Only Living Boy in New Cross) wrote in message . com...

There was a proposal some time ago for lots of services to terminate
at Cannon Street, and generally regularise services, so that instead
of stations having many different possible destinations (e.g. trains
from Lewisham can go to Cannon Street, Blackfriars, Charing Cross or
Victoria), they would only have one destination all day. The Hayes
and Greenwich lines were all going to terminate at Cannon Street. No
idea what became of this proposal, though.

All Greenwich line (stopping) trains run to Cannon Street during
Mon-Sat daytimes - something I was dead set against, but getting away
from the two-track squeeze over Borough Market actually results in a
more reliable service. Admittedly, it's not much good if you need
Waterloo or the West End, but you can change at London Bridge there
are decent tube connections at Cannon Street/Bank (if you remember to
walk to/from Mansion House on Saturdays).

The Hayes line is, like the Greenwich line, one of the Overground
Network pilot lines (
http://www.overgroundnetwork.com) so I'd imagine
it's future is secure.
