What station is this? by Tristán White
The missus and I just watched a rather fascinating film called "It Happened Here", which is a mockumentary, made in 1958 by two teenagers (one was 18, the other 16) although released in 1966, about what would have happened had the worst happened, and Hitler succeeded and invaded Britain and made it part of the Reich. A chilling film indeed. And made by these two teenagers, with a teeny...

Lewisham Undergound Station? by hn28_signal@yahoo.co.uk
I was told last night that under the Lewisham Centre is provision for an underground station built in preparation for the terminus of the Fleet Line (now the Jubilee and running to Stratford) in the late 1970s. The former childrens play area in the sunken section in the middle is suposedly the entrance. I've looked on google and found plenty of references to the Fleet line's proposed destination...

Coulsdon bypass. by furles@mail.croydon.ac.uk
Nobody else seems to have mentioned it, so I will; the Coulsdon bypass opened sometime yesterday,18-12-06. It was closed when I went to work, but had opened by the time I came home. I haven't seen it in daylight yet, but I noticed something strange this morning. I catch my bus from a stop on the section of road which has been bypassed, and since about September the traffic has been even worse...

Best place to purchase an Annual Travelcard by Sam
My Annual Oystercard card (Zone 2-4) is up for renewel. I remember in the past, posters on here talking about getting an Oyster from a Natioanl rail station where you get additional benefits as well as a goldcard. Maybe SWT ? Did you get free weekend tickets possibly ? I will be using the travelcard in North London rather than on SWT, but would that matter ? Any ideas .

Disused stations and tunnels on the Tube by alex_t
I wonder, is there any official way to see some closed stations like Aldwych or destroyed ones like British Museum? (for the purpose of non-commercial photographing by tube enthusiast ;-)

LU to take over Silverlink stations by bowroaduk@yahoo.com
Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone and Transport for London today announced that eleven stations currently managed by Silverlink Metro will become the operational responsibility of London Underground when the North London Railway transfers to Transport for London in November 2007. The move means that an important part of the overland rail network in London, along with staff currently employed by...

Own journeyplanner by Ralf Mayer
Well, I did start gathering data and making my own journeyplanner to take with me on a mobile, and I am able to find quickest routes through most lines already... but some question to the line setup however remain, I am certain you will have no difficulties helping me with them: 1) Shepherd's Bush: There is a station by that name on Central and on Hammersmith & City - are that really...

HELP: Which is cheaper by Tristán White
My Season ticket runs out tonight. I'm paid weekly at the moment as I'm doing contract work. This year I am working TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY, FRIDAY, and TWO DAYS just before New Year's Eve. I'm out of the country at all other times. I leave before 9:00 so it's peak-time travel.

Zone 1/2 Travelcard? by Rick Blaine
On my occasional trips to London, I would purchase a one week Zone 1/2 Travelcard, slip it in with my LT Photocard and be covered for most of my transportation needs. With the advent of Oyster, I'm not sure that's the preferred way, or even possible anymore. Assuming I would need to be in London once a year or so, what would be the best ticketing solution these days? Thx

Freedom To Choose by F2C
Freedom To Choose is an unfunded volunteer group of licensees and members of the public who feel that the Government has lied to them on the smoking ban issue by not carrying though the promises made in its manifesto. Even more concern is surfacing since the Health Minister, Lord Warner, declared that there is a possibility of the ban extending to outside areas. http://www.freedom2choose.co.uk

Holloway Road Tube Work by Ernst S Blofeld
There appears to be work going on beside Holloway Road tube station, on some old railway land. Does anyone know what that apparent old alignment was? Were there plans for a high-level station at any point? http://www.islington.gov.uk/Council/CouncilNews/Consultation/currentconsultations/holloway_road_brief.asp ESB

W&C This Morning by Kev
I've heard some excuses but no trains due to excessive dust following weekend engineering work. What were they doing exactly? This is the line that was closed completely not long ago to completely relay the track (I think) so why didn't they do major engineering work when the line was closed. I wonder how much the dust cost the London economy? W&C, that would be Metronet wouldn't it. Kevin

Utter rudeness by cyril sneer
I was passing through a metropolitan line station this morning and saw something that upset me at the time, and I just want to see what everyone's take on it is. We were waiting on a train, and the customer service assistant made an announcement that chiltern railways trains were holding up the met line trains, and he would try and find out where the next one was. He went to the ticket office...
