JLE - anything they should have added at time of building? by
kytelly
Apart from moving block signalling of course!
Though some omissions will be because the whole network was designed
with the assumption of 30per hour services (was it 36 per hour at one
point?)
Personally I think they should have been a bit more infrastructure to
isolate failed trains and be able to run more of a service on parts of
the line while other bits were suspended

Kings Cross NXEC ticket machines and cross London tickets by
Matthew Dickinson
The National Express ticket machines at Kings Cross have been altered
to sell the correct versions of some tickets for journeys starting at
other London terminals. They now offer tickets via Waterloo or
Paddington with the U1 journey included. Tickets to Thameslink
destinations are available stating From St Pancras not via
Underground, and also to some SWT destinations stating via Wimbledon

31 Minutes to walk from Kings Cross to St. Pancreas - Is this true!? by
Matt[_2_]
Hey guys. I'm currently planning a journey that takes me via London.
Basically I arrive in London Kings Cross, then ened to walk over to St
Pancreas to get a train to St. Albans. According to the Transport
Direct journey planner, this walk will take 31 minutes, but if I look
at any map, it looks like it shouldn't even take 5!
I've not been to the new St Pancreas, and I guess the entrance...

WHy is the central line so much faster? by
Boltar
Had to go to a meeting at Hangar lane today. After white city the
train just took off, we must've been doing 40-50 mph. How come the
other tube lines are so slow in comparison? The piccadilly plods its
way to acton town and the northern line between east finchley and
finchley central seemed to barely get above 25mph the few times I did
it last year. Why is the central line different?

Euston - Northern Line (City Branch) by
Nicola Redwood
Anyone know if there is any reason behind a distinct lack of Northern Line
trains northbound to Edgware from the City Branch at Euston? (at least I
think it's the City branch - will double check the platform number tomorrow)
From last week certainly around 7:40am, there has been no Edgware branch
train indicated for at least 15 mins when I've come off the Victoria Line
southbound.
No major...

West Ruislip to nearest Met Line Station by
Great Eastern
I Would like to make a change from Central Line at West Ruislip (or a
station on that route) to the nearest Metropolitan Line Station.
Could anyone advise of the two which are the closest and easiest to
walk? No walking problems or anything just would like the quickest and
easiest for someone who isn't familiar with the area.
Thanks

London -Stonehenge by

Is it possible to visit Stonehenge by public transportation from London as
a one day excursion?
Considering both convenience and price, what would you suggest?
We will most likely be traveling in May.

Fast Uxbridge Mets by
Fig
This week I've twice been suprised to find myself on a southbound Met from
Uxbridge in the evening peak that ran fast between Harrow-on-the-hill and
Finchley Road on it's way to Aldgate.
Is this a permanent change to the timetable? If so, does anyone have the
details?

Crews tackle London market blaze
Up to 100 firefighters are tackling a major blaze that is spreading
rapidly through London's famous Camden Market. There are no reports of
casualties so far but London Fire Brigade said people were reported
trapped in the fire. Firefighters were alerted at about 7.20pm to a

Bus Lanes: Proof Of What We All Knew by
Nuxx Bar
The Truth About Bikes And Anti-Motorist Lanes:
http://tinyurl.com/36kls5
Very revealing all in all. TfL's true colours are exposed (again), as
are those of militant cyclists (who are of course doing as much damage
to proper cyclists' interests as anyone else's).
"A clue lies in the report's findings about the attitudes of other
road users to the idea of motorcycles in bus lanes, with almost...

London Buses & Diversions by
Railist
Grrr. Dealing with London Buses call centre is giving me a headache.
Over such an easy thing too, but I feel like I am banging my head
against a brick wall. I'm posting the conversations here mainly as
therapy.
Basically, there was a burst water main on a bus route near my house.
All the traffic, and four bus routes (2, 196, 432 and 468) were
diverted along the road I live on. This road is...

South West Trains season ticket price finder by
Michael Hoffman
The price for a weekly rail-only season ticket from Hampton Court to
Waterloo listed at http://tinyurl.com/2flhgs is £29.30. My girlfriend
asked at Waterloo today and was told it was £33.80, just as the
nationalrail.co.uk season ticket calculator says.
Is there a way to get the £29.30 ticket or is that inaccurate information?
