North East corner - Underground by
Why does the north east corner suffer from a lack of customers yet the NW, SW and SE do fine for numbers? Any ideas? Could it mean the lack of passenger numbers further closes in the North East corner?

Ken to TOCs - end of January deadline to sign up for Oyster PAYG by Mizter T
TfL's offer to the National Rail (NR) Train Operating Companies (TOCs) to fund the £20 million cost of installing equipment to allow Oyster Pay-as-you-go (PAYG, a.k.a. Pre-Pay) isn't open ended, and the deadline - the 31st of January - is fast approaching. It would appear the Mayor is keen to bounce the TOCs into signing up to the deal. See this TfL press...

Travelcard pricing - is this really correct? by Sam
Hi all, I've been trying to get my head around some odd ticket pricing, and I just wanted to check that what I'm seeing is correct. All of this refers to off-peak one-day Travelcards. If I buy a cheap-day return from, say, Sawbridgeworth in Hertfordshire, to London Liverpool St, it costs £10.50. However, the same station will sell me a ticket with a one-day Travelcard included for £14.50. Hence...

Tube Strike? by Sad Old Git
Overheard some drivers talking while waiting for a train @ Golders Grn, It appears that there will be a strike looming as the underground have refused to give the staff their payrise. Is this correct?

So much for the Oyster Revolution in London by robhingston@googlemail.com
Not every Londoner as a underground near them so they use a Overground which don't take Oyster card pay as you go so we don't save on the cost of one-day travel with a Oyster card pay as you go,we have to use Cash fares. So much for the Oyster Revolution in London

M25 Last Night by Kev
Was anybody stuck on the northern section of the M25 Monday night? I was going anti clockwise and went through Potters Bar rather than join at J24. Why on earth weren't they diverting traffic down the M1 then back up the M11 rather than down the A1M and back up the A10. The tailback was almost back to the M1 anyway and where is the sense in going up the A10 when it is only a little bit further...

Red London Tube to a Beach? by
The new Peter O'Toole film, 'Venus', has a scene that suggests he takes a red, presumably London, tube to a coastal beach. Is this possible today? On which 'red electric train' to use John Betjeman's term, to which beach? Edwin Bock

Hi, A friend is coming into London via the M3 and wants to park on the outskirts and get the tube in. It would be on a Tuesday afternoon. Any recommendations on where he should aim for? Thanks, -- Flash Wilson Bristow - Web Design & Mastery - 07939 579090

Zonal fares - London stations by Nicks
I asked for a day return from New Malden (Z4) to Vauxhall today (Z 1/2) - so using the new fare table this should have been £3.20. However the SWT ticket clerk said that when he put in Vauxhall the machine automatically issued a New Malden to London Stations day return at £4.00 and that he couldn't change this. Is this just a problem with the programming or is there a problem with the...

Cross River Tram Depot at Walworth by Bob
In view of the recent rebuild of White City Depot and subject to any unforeseen ground condition problems this seems like a sensible suggestion that should be explored. Where was today's derailment? by Albert
The BBC are reporting a derailment between Mertsham and Coulsdon South. That is a fair distance with a tunnel for part of it. Out of interest, does anyone here yet know exactly where it was?

Kings Cross Thameslink and London Terminals by SamB
Sorry to bring this topic up yet again! Have been out of the country and therefore a bit out of the loop. I know that there were all the problems with KXT, and not being London Terminals from the south, etc etc. I also read that, in January, it *would* be classed as London Terminals. When does this start? From 2nd, I assume? Thanks Sam

Oystercard vending machines by Matthew
Oystercard card vending machines have been installed at several stations (I have seen them at Liverpool Street and Euston). They are cash only and sell an oystercard for £3 that then needs credit loading at a ticket machine.
