"Before the final decision on funding is made, more work needs to be

Delayed Travelcards on Oyster by
David of Broadway
I've read that it's possible to purchase an Oyster-based Travelcard in
advance. For instance, I can buy a 7-day Travelcard effective Sunday on
Friday.
If I were to do that on a brand new Oyster, would the £3 deposit be
waived? That is, if I'm only going to do a bit of travel on Friday and
Saturday, if I, on Friday, obtain a new Oyster with a Travelcard
effective Sunday plus a PAYG balance...

Photography on LU by
bowroaduk@yahoo.com
This was forwarded to me for info -
I wanted to drop you a note about photography on (or even near) LUL
property. Earlier today I took a photograph of the front of Pinner
station, and the footbridge. Two BTP officers who had seen this promptly
detained me under section 44(2) of the Terrorism Act 2000
(http://www.opsi.gov.uk/Acts/acts2000/00011--f.htm#44), and informed
that...

oyster only gates at Euston Silverlink county platforms by
google@woodall.me.uk
Going through the barriers at Euston platform 8-11 I see that at least
two of them have paper stuck over the slot for tickets with the words
"Oyster only".
Is this a temporary thing because the gates are faulty or is it
intended to be permanent?
I would be surprised if more than about 5% of passengers using these
platforms can even use Oyster for their journeys and as it is the gates
cannot...

Jubilee Line lift at Stratford by
John Rowland
.... out of order again.... seems to happen a lot. I don't know a lot about
lifts, but they don't seem like rocket science to me, and they are a mature
technology, so I can't see the reason for the problem. I hope LUL sued the
people who made it.
For such a short distance, would a lift which can either be powered or
hand-wound be out of the question?

Help Advice needed by
ruth
This is my first post on this group, and I wonder if someone here might
advise me..
I am a holder of a disabled persons freedom pass. My disability means I
cannot actually use public transport.. This is a miserable waste
really, when all I would ideally require are some travel vouchers for
my carer so he can come and help me.
Anyway, in September I had to leave my carer in Rickmansworth to...

Why don't tube staff enforce the routing systems in stations? by
patrick1971@gmail.com
Last night at about 1830 I was at Tottenham Court Road. Of the three
escalators which lead up to the ticket hall, two were coming down and
only one was going up, which is in itself unusual. This meant that
there was a big crowd building at the bottom of the one up escalator.
At Tottenham Court Road, when you get to the bottom of the escalators,
you're meant to go straight ahead for the Central...

Two totally unrelated questions.. by
gw2486
1) Does anyone know what's going on between Woodside Park and Finchley
Central, also on a part of the Mill Hill East branch? (I rarely travel
north of Woodside Park but haven't noticed anything.)
They seem to be building roads along the side of the tracks - now
someone is probably going to tell me that, but why?
2) I'm about to buy an annual travelcard. (my first!) I always wonder
how much...

Pinner station by
C
There is a new sign at Pinner tube station - all it indicates is Southbound
trains and the time and there is one on the other platform that says
Northbound trains and the time. It does not give a list of the next
train.....so whats the point? Surely people know which is north and south
bound side was it really worth putting in the sign. Would it not be better
used if it said when the next...

Annual Gold Card by
billyshearer@gmail.com
I purchased a gold card from SW Trains at Wimbledon, from a very grumpy
clerk.
I wasn't asked to fill in any forms, and he just scribbled my address
on the back of the cheque.
Six weeks on, I still haven't received any information from SW Trains.
I am looking forward to my six free tickets, but do I have to do apply
for them or how does it work?

What station is this? by
Tristán White
The missus and I just watched a rather fascinating film called "It Happened
Here", which is a mockumentary, made in 1958 by two teenagers (one was 18,
the other 16) although released in 1966, about what would have happened had
the worst happened, and Hitler succeeded and invaded Britain and made it
part of the Reich.
A chilling film indeed. And made by these two teenagers, with a teeny...

Lewisham Undergound Station? by
hn28_signal@yahoo.co.uk
I was told last night that under the Lewisham Centre is provision for
an underground station built in preparation for the terminus of the
Fleet Line (now the Jubilee and running to Stratford) in the late
1970s. The former childrens play area in the sunken section in the
middle is suposedly the entrance.
I've looked on google and found plenty of references to the Fleet
line's proposed destination...

Coulsdon bypass. by
furles@mail.croydon.ac.uk
Nobody else seems to have mentioned it, so I will; the Coulsdon bypass
opened sometime yesterday,18-12-06. It was closed when I went to work,
but had opened by the time I came home.
I haven't seen it in daylight yet, but I noticed something strange this
morning. I catch my bus from a stop on the section of road which has
been bypassed, and since about September the traffic has been even
worse...

Best place to purchase an Annual Travelcard by
Sam
My Annual Oystercard card (Zone 2-4) is up for renewel. I remember in the
past, posters on here talking about getting an Oyster from a Natioanl rail
station where you get additional benefits as well as a goldcard. Maybe SWT
? Did you get free weekend tickets possibly ?
I will be using the travelcard in North London rather than on SWT, but would
that matter ?
Any ideas .

Disused stations and tunnels on the Tube by

I wonder, is there any official way to see some closed stations like
Aldwych or destroyed ones like British Museum? (for the purpose of
non-commercial photographing by tube enthusiast ;-)

LU to take over Silverlink stations by
bowroaduk@yahoo.com
Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone and Transport for London today
announced that eleven stations currently managed by Silverlink Metro
will become the operational responsibility of London Underground when
the North London Railway transfers to Transport for London in November
2007. The move means that an important part of the overland rail
network in London, along with staff currently employed by...
