First Capital Connect fare rise last weekend? by
DaveP
Someone pointed out that fares from Potters Bar to Oakleigh Park seem to
have nearly douled over the weekend - the booking office charged £25
instead of £15 for a 7 day ticket.
Checking online, my annual has gone from £552 to £1040 - bizarrely this is
the same fare as from Welwyn Garden City to Oakleigh Park!
I thought this might have been as a result of the zonal fares being imposed
on NR...

Wood Green to Streatham by
Dave
Wondering if anyone here might be able to give me some rough advice as
to how I can get from Wood Green to Streatham Hill (or any part of
Streatham) with a zone 2-3 travelcard? Leaving in the morning and
returning after rush hour.
Many thanks for any advise.
Kind Regards,

Standard Day Return - break of journey? by
paulspeller@gmail.com
This feels like it would have been asked numerous times on here
before, but either it hasn't been or my Google Groups search skills
are not up to the task - apologies if it's the latter!
I've got a Standard Day Return from Crayford to London today (£9.20).
On my way home I would like to stop off in Bexley (the stop before
Crayford), leave the station to drop something off nearby, then return
to...

Has TfL only just awoken? by

I received an email today from TfL, informing me that the TfL website
had been updated.
This happened two months ago, didn't it?

Aglians
Hi, I am italian. Probably next june I will stay at Wembley Plaza Hotel, in
Empire way, next Wembley stadium. A few years ago I already staied at this
hotel and I remember that the closest tube station to get central London was
1 Km or more far. Has something changed? Which is that tube station and
which is the bus to get the hotel from tube staion?
Thank You very much.

Willesden- Clapham Junction by
Eric
Does anybody know the reason that the Willsden Junction- Clapham Junction
train takes so long? I know there is a voltage change between Willesden &
Olympia, but the train crawls on this section & often stops two or three
times. Between Olympia & West Brompton the speed is reasonable but after
that the train crawls to Clapham Junction, the other day a jackdaw overtook
the train & it was...

Ghosts on the Underground by
Toby
There was a good programme on Sky yesterday called 'Ghosts on the
Underground'. It mentioned a few paranormal sightings, including an alleged
haunted sub-Thames tunnel at Embankment station, a Covent Garden ghost and
other weird goings on.
So, has anybody here seen or got a good spooky story relating to the tube?

Critique my tube map by
alex_t
Last weekend I had nothing to do, so I've drawn my own tube map :-|
http://www.fxfp.com/get/tube/2007/05/m_001.png
Warning! The file is about 500kb and quite large: 5000x3250 pixels.
Notable changes compared to the official map:
* no North London line (I will add Overground when it will launch)
* "walk-only" interchanges between stations omitted (Shadwell, Bow
Road/Church, etc)
* no Regent's...

Ken's comments on Metronet by
Kev
I know this guy hates the PPP's but I thought his comments about the
best thing to happen would be for Metronet to go bankrupt was a bit
out of order for the Mayor of London and a senior member of the Labour
party.
I am sure that the many suppliers that would suffer financial hardship
not to mention the workers who would lose out financially as well.
Given that a Labour Government put the PPP's...

Well,
It's not transport (unless you're a water vole), but it's London and it's

Stoke Newington Commuting by
adamharrison@gmail.com
I'm moving to London in July and a lot of my friends are located in
the Stoke Newington area. I'm considering moving there but am worried
by the lack of a tube. I will be commuting to Victoria every day. Will
the lack of a tube wreck my head or is the bus/tube combo ok? I'm
moving from Dublin (no tube anyway) and cycle to work in 15 mins.
Thanks!

I bought a ticket From Bookham to Gunnersbury today 'Not London' for
£11.10 I change at Clapham Junction and Richmond. as suggested by the
