Thameslink Rolling Stock by Paul Scott
The usual suspects, Alstom, Bombardier, Siemens; plus Hitachi, have applied to build the Thameslink EMUs. This phase of the procurement process seems fairly predictable, would the DfT not save time and money by prequalifying the first three for any future UK rolling stock builds, or would that be against the rules, in case there are other train builders around who might be...

Misspelt street names by John Rowland
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&q=%22ericcson+close%22+sw18&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&resnum=1&ct=title Maybe this was named after Seven Groan Ericcson? I think there should be a national law against councils giving people unspellable addresses.

Oyster PAYG from Fenchurch Street by Ian Jelf
At one point yesterday I needed to get from Tower Hill to Shadwell. With Tower Gateway closed and Bank/Monument restricted, I wondered if I could take c2c from Fenchurch Street and change at Limehouse. "On the spot" I wasn't sure if Oyster PAYG was valid out of Fenchurch Street. (I now know it is but had no way of finding out then, short of asking at the Fenchurch Street barrier. The chap...

Tonight's Meeting by Steve Fitzgerald
Just walked in the house. Was good to meet a few of the denizens of this Parish. Notable were Messrs Jelf, Corfield, Thant, asdf, Anderson, Briscoe and Rosenstiel Certain others were notable by their absence. Suggestions were made that this could be a bi-annual event; I leave it

HST on west london freight line by thagor2008@googlemail.com
I was walking over a bridge near the central line near Hangar Lane today which has a freight only NR line running beside it and I saw an HST going into london on that line. Since it was empty I'm guessing it was a stock transfer but where has it come from and where is it going? B2003

LU disabled toilet RADAR accessibility by Walter Briscoe
At last night's meeting, I extolled the advantages of a RADAR key which gives access to toilets for the disabled. I do not consider myself disabled but research this morning showed Revenue & Customs thinks otherwise. RADAR keys can be bought with VAT by anyone and without VAT by disabled people making an exempting declaration at http://www.radar.org.uk/radarwebsite/tabid/41/default.aspx....

Pit-bull dogs without muzzles on the trains at seven sisters by robhingston@googlemail.com
My national rail train at Seven Sisters was leaving at 20.47 today, The doors where closing and I just got on the train before the doors closed and before I know it I was cornered by a massive Pit-ball terrier, Maybe it was the way I run on the train that trigger the dog to attack ,This Dog was ready to eat me alive and lucky for me the owner had hold of the Pit-ball by its Collier but he could...

Meeting place in Luton Airport by Michael Hoffman
I'm meeting some people this Saturday morning around 04:30 before we go on for a flight. We are all all the same ticket for our flight on EasyJet so I am inclined to meet landside. Will they make us all check in at the same time? Somehow, even if not, it seems like it would be easier to address problems from landside. Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions on a good place to meet? Maybe...
