fare evasion penalties by evan
Sorry if this is an FAQ. My partner has just been summonsed for fare evasion, for an incident in November last year. She was worried about something important, got on an R-route bus near Cannon St through the middle door & forgot to get her pre-pay ticket (one of the hexagonal ones) validated by the driver. She was asked for her ticket, realised that she'd forgotten, apologised, showed...

Mayor says no tax rise for Games by alex_t
From BBC News: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/6452865.stm Interesting bit: BBC London's political editor Tim Donovan said Mr Livingstone may raid Transport for London reserves and use a £200m loan he has taken out for transport improvements in east London to help find the £300m. So it looks like there could be cuts in transport for the Olympics. What do you think will be cut?

St Pancras station by Andrea
The current long route from the underground to platform level at St Pancras station is a joke! Are there no plans to have a direct underground passage to the station, that avoids an outside walk braving the elements? There also seems to be an exit from the station onto Midland Road, but this is closed - are there no plans to open it?

TfL's iBus program -- a dud? by Marc Brett
Interesting news from Vancouver, BC, given that Siemens is also responsible for supplying the infrastructure for London's iBus system. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2007/03/08/bc-signs.html Vancouver bus info signs 'duds' TransLink admits the electronic information signs at stops along a major bus route between downtown Vancouver and Richmond don't work, can't be fixed...

A stock after closure of ELL by eddpayne@gmail.com
Was just thinking about the ELL (yes I truly have no life) and got to thinking: When the East London line is closed this December, will the A stock be used to reinforce any services on the Metropolitan line, or to implement the change of the terminus from Aldgate to Barking before the introduction of S stock? Or will they just be stored away and used as spare sets in case of breakdown? Edd

Hi Looking for some help here, my partner has just had a change of job (And location). She currently has a Zone 1 - 4 Annual Oyster expiring in July, living equidistant from Totteridge & Whetstone LU and Oakleigh Park BR. Her new job is located 2 mins from East Croydon station (Zone 5) Ticketing wise I suggeseted getting a monthly Oyster extension for just Zone 5 until her annual runs out,...

ELL/NLL interchange by Paul Scott
The ELL phase 1 northern extension finishes at Dalston Junction station, but Ken has stated that he will provide funds for early completion of the direct link to the NLL, originally part of phase 2. Am I correct in thinking that the first convenient cross platform interchange station between ELL and NLL will actually be Canonbury or Highbury and Islington? In which case would it be better not...

Photography underground by alex_t
Are there any specific instructions for photographers on the Underground? I was standing at the Baker Street station (Metropolitan line platform) and tried to make photo of the local junction (at the moment when train was passing it) - I was approached by two policemen and told to stop photography and delete existing photos (they even checked that the photos were deleted) as no photography...

Annual Travelcard on Oyster by Andrea
I have a Z1-3 annual Travelcard loaded onto my Oyster. I have a few questions:- - Is this valid on all National Rail routes within zones 1-3? E.g. the North London Line or Waterloo-Wimbledon? Do guards just examine the Oyster or do they have those handheld devices which detect an annual from a PAYG? - If I don't touch in, will I incur a penalty when I touch out or will they system assume I...

First Class in the south east by Andrea
From my recent First Class journeys in the South East, I have found that demand for it is practically non-existent on suburban routes outside of peak hours - this is particularly my experience on the FCC Bedford-East Croydon service. However, I have found that these operators now have an off-peak 'First Cheap Day Return'. FCC have this, as does FGW. Why do very few people take up these...

Letchworth where ? by Edward Cowling London UK
On the Northbound Great Northern Electric out of Moorgate we always had trains to Welwyn Garden City, Letchworth and Hertford North. Then all of a sudden we started getting trains to Letchworth Garden City. Where is this idyllic home of the Gods ? :-) First of all I thought it was screwed up announcement board, but the station announcers all talk about trains to this suburban shangri...
