A13 - new Beckton Flyover open in both directions by Dr. Sunil
Hi all, The new flyover over the A117 at Beckton is now open in both directions (five and a bit weeks after the westbound carriageway was finished), albeit only two lanes either way. Opened some time between Saturday lunchtime and Sunday evening. Old flyover virtually all gone now, save for a small section west of the junction, as of Saturday lunchtime. The Underpass under the A112 Prince...

J sign at the end of Finchley Road station by J. Public
Hi All. Just a quick question - does anyone know what a small illuminated 'J' might be used for on the northbound met platform at Finchley Road station. It looks a bit like that light that goes on then off as the train passes over the little arm at the side of the track. Also, what's the problem with opening both sets of doors at stations like Uxbridge, Golders Green etc., where there are...

The Singing Tracks at Turnham Green by TheOneKEA
I live in Richmond and take the District Line into Central London about once a week. Sometimes I change trains at Turnham Green to go to Ealing Broadway. When I am at Turnham Green, I have noticed that the tracks make strange noises when either a Piccadilly or a District train is approaching. No matter how fast the incoming train is traveling, the tracks twang, rattle and vibrate like huge...

Where's Edgware Rd Bakerloo Station?! by Matthew P Jones
This morning I was on a northbound Bakerloo train coming into Paddington. There was an announcement over the P A along the lines of "at the request of the police this train will not stop at Edgware Road". This announcement was repeated a few times, including when we were stationery at Paddington. I have to assume the driver made the announcement, it sounded very different from the...

'Loading' an Oyster? by Lasitha
I think when you use the Oyster at your designated station, it loads the info. Lasitha "Steve Naïve" wrote in message ... I bought a travelcard to be loaded onto an Oyster for a future date (it was going to start on a Monday). On Friday, travelling on my old paper

Richmond Station Car Park on a Sunday by Mark
One Sunday I'm planning on coming into the West End from Hampshire and want to park and ride. Would parking at Richmond (4 miles from the end of the M3) and getting the tube/train be the best option? Does the car park at Richmond normally have spaces on a Sunday? Many thanks.

3D Tube map by Dave Arquati
Michael Johnson wrote: I found an interesting take on the London Underground map on the web today. It seems someone's had a go at making a 3D version, which shows how the various lines pass over and under each other: http://www.recenda.f9.co.uk/pages/tubemap.htm It's probably fair to say that this version of the map wouldn't win top marks for accuracy - he's got the Central line...

The UK march agaimst Bush by Mait001
We'll just have to disagree on that: just because a few opinion polls suggest a majority of those interviewed "oppose the war" - which I do not believe to be the case anyway (what are the statistics and polls to which you refer?) does not mean that they all feel so strongly about it that they wish to disrupt the lives of ordinary people trying to go about their normal business...

Good Riddance to Connex by John Rowland
About 1 more minute to go, and they will be gone. May they never darken our platforms again. -- John Rowland - Spamtrapped Transport Plans for the London Area, updated 2001 http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Acropolis/7069/tpftla.html A man's vehicle is a symbol of his manhood. That's why my vehicle's the Piccadilly Line - It's the size of a county and it comes every two and a half minutes

'Loading' an Oyster? by Kat
In message , Steve Naïve writes I bought a travelcard to be loaded onto an Oyster for a future date (it was going to start on a Monday). On Friday, travelling on my old paper travelcard, I tried waving the Oyster over the card reader - since it wasn't valid, it didn't work (to be expected). However, neither did it load the correct...

The UK march agaimst Bush by Mait001
Why do you say this is untrue: do you want me to provide you with all of Chelsea's home matches and extra matches when there's an "away" draw? Why do I say it is untrue you ask, perhaps because it is false. Are you telling me that Chelsea DO NOT play "at home" at least once a fortnight? I have lived in this house for 38 years, and KNOW that what I am writing is true.

The UK march agaimst Bush by Mait001
Chelsea play at home midweek at least once a fortnight, how many times are you saying they do play midweek every fortnight? Odd way of phrasing it! Is assume you mean 'at home' too? Of course I mean that. You really ought to give up the student union debating tactics and get into the adult world where certain phrases are omitted for obvious brevity without altering the meaning of the...

Are you telling me that Chelsea DO NOT play "at home" at least once a fortnight? I have lived in this house for 38 years, and KNOW that what I am writing is true. Not at all, I am simply saying what you said was untrue. Well if you are stating that it was untrue what I said, i.e. that Chelsea play at home midweek at least once a fortnight, how many times are you saying they do play...

You have already accused me of being a liar, to which I replied by challenging you to quote the lies I have told, to which you have chosen not to reply. You really ought to pay more attention to who you are replying to. I was I that called you a liar, if was me that you challenged. Correct, and I apologise to kedron.

"I cannot leave my home whenever Chelsea play "at home" "Wrong: Chelsea play "at home" at least once a fortnight mid-week Both untrue as well you knew. Why do you say this is untrue: do you want me to provide you with all of Chelsea's home matches and extra matches when there's an "away" draw? As for not being able to leave home when there's a "home" match - how dare you

The Real Underground Map by Sam
I've been reading some posts recently that asked about the availability of a geographical underground map. FYI, I have designed a flash animation with collaboration with the London Transport Museum that shows the relationship between the London Underground Map, a geographical map and shows a streetmap too - just in case there are any doubters. Just thought you might find it interesting... Click...

The fetaured link states:- " March to Trafalgar Square where a statue of George Bush will be pulled down. This event will continue until 7pm to allow for people coming from work. If there is only one STOP BU$H event that you can make - this is the one." Presumably these vile and odious morons actually believe George Bush is more evil than Saddam. Just WHAT are they trying to stop Bush form...
