Wafted from paradise to Luton Airport by Roland Perry
Massive queues for the 3-out-of-6 immigration desks open, while several planes disgorge at once. But at least that meant the bags had been delivered to the carousel by the time we got through. The posh purple-FTR shuttle bus to the airport was replaced by a red Citaro, all liveried-up so not a temporary thing. Had the vanity plate 'T5 FCC' disguising its age - but it was clearly not new....

Was good to see you all last night. It was especially good to meet Boltar at last. Who had "fifteen year old girl" in the sweepstake?

Actual bendy bus capacity? by Tim Roll-Pickering
Yesterday I had to get the 25 for a joyful journey and I noticed that the official capacity listed at the front of the bus is 49 sitting, 149 total (or 142 with a wheelchair). But that wasn't remotely the capacity level beig followed by the bus driver when not stopping at a number of stops that had a handful, no more, waiting at them. By my reckoning (from the front) there were about 30-40...

Cheapest rail + tube season ticket option question by David E Newton[_2_]
Hello all, We're about to move back into London from Hertfordshire and my gf will need to commute from Walthamstow to Ware. This would be going on the tube from Walthamstow to Tottenham Hale and then on the National Express Hertford East line to Ware. However, trying to figure out the prices is coming up with some right anomalies, so we're trying to figure out a way which is (a) cheaper...

OT - Mouse problem with Google Maps by Basil Jet
In the last few days, whenever I go on Google Maps, my mouse starts misbehaving, and the only way to get it back to normal is to reboot the PC. Anyone else had this? (Technika wireless optical mouse, Windows XP).

London Heritage Routes by West Yorkshire Bus
With Boris being pro-Routemasters, anti-Bendibuses, I'm surprised there hasn't been any changes to the heritage Routemaster services in London since they were introduced I was in London recently and the services seemed popular and the very sight of one on the road caused tens of tourists to get out their cameras. Personally I think they should extend the 15 so it runs from Tower Hill to...

Greenford by Walter Briscoe
I visited this outer London station on Tuesday - before Boris's fares and improvement budget announcement on Thursday. I was surprised to see a wood-slatted up escalator. I would have thought all these have gone since the King's Cross fire. Hoarding hid the down escalator. The Station Supervisor told me a lift was being put in for step-free access. Following this, I was surprised to read in...

Edgware Road and Paddington (was: "Sling him under a train") by rosenstiel@cix.compulink.co.uk
In article , (Ian Jelf) wrote: Personally, I've never encountered any rudeness, attitude problems or even lack of knowledge from LU staff (and that's with a *lot* of diverse Tube-riding). Sadly not always true. I was travelling from Cambridge to St Ives (Cornwall) earlier in the month. We had a generous time allowed to...

Touching in on DLR replacement buses by SamB
Quick question - I'm planning on going to Stratford today, from Deptford Bridge, on the DLR. So I'll be going to Island Gardens on the DLR, then the replacement bus to Canary Wharf, then onwards on the DLR. So, where do I touch (I'm pre-paying)? Obviously in at Deptford Bridge, and out at Stratford, but do I need to touch out at Island Gardens, then in at Canary Wharf? Will it treat that as two...

Evening Standard no longer on trains by Chris[_2_]
On 14 Oct, 08:09, plcd1 wrote: The vendors are now employees of the Standard and their pitches have changed quite radically. Hmm, that's NOT what my usual vendor has told me. In the past, he got 8 hours *and* his NI stamp paid.....now, he only gets paid for 4 hours - and by cheque from a third party, meaning self- employment status and having to pay his NI stamp.

Ealing Broadway to Kensington Olympia by Jonathan Harris
There doesn't appear to be anything setting out what may happen to continue the service over this route from the December timetable change. There is no track access application from Southern for the service it is rumoured it would provide to Ealing Broadway, the franchise agreement for the new Southern franchise is not on the DfT website yet and nothing is in the timetable. Furthermore,...
