Super off-peak Travelcard won't operate gates at many stations by
Clive Page[_4_]
Today I travelled to London on a super off-peak London One-day
Travelcard purchased from FCC at Luton Airport Parkway. I know from
past experiences that these tickets operate the gates at all TfL
stations that I've used, but consistently fail at those of South Eastern
Trains (e.g. Charing Cross and London Bridge). Today I also found both
of our tickets were rejected at London St.Pancras...

Oyster Exits at Kings Cross St Pancras not being recorded by
Tim Fardell
Twice now I have touched-out at Kings Cross St Pancras station on my way
to St Pancras International train station. On both occasions, the "Exit"
has not been recorded on my Oyster account, and I have been overcharged.
I know I touched out, because I managed to get through the barriers, so
how come it didn't register?

3 Car DLR.... by
Martin Petrov[_2_]
Have there been any in public service yet?
I hoped I'd get lucky when I arrived at Canary Wharf at 9am this morning,
but no sign. Nothing when I was on my way home either.

"Thousands use Oyster incorrectly on London trains" by
Mizter T
This is actually a story that has originated from TfL, in a bid to try
and raise awareness of the need to touch-in and touch-out (see below
for the article itself). No mention of any OEP issues, instead this is
just the old requirement to touch-in and touch-out, which will always
be a requirement unless the ultra-radical notion of a flat fare ever
came to be (which will happen right after TfL's...

Advice needed on getting last train by
DennyL
It has happened to me that I've know the time of the last train but, when I get to the station in good time, the station seems closed (grids pulled across entrances). Last week I went to Leicester Square station at about 12:15 and both the entrances facing each other on Charing Cross Road were closed. I walked to Piccadilly Circus and the station entrance near to Eros had its grid pulled to...

Conflict of Oyster Cards by
CJB
Recently I obtained a Hillingdon Community Services card which doubles
as a Library user's card. And put it into the same card wallet as my
Oyster card - in which I also keep my bank card. Suddently my Oyster
card stopped working on trains and buses, and even the Heathrow
Connect portable validators wouldn't recognise it - to considerable
embarrasment. The culprit was the Hillingdon Community...

Simon Jenkins on Sarf Lunnon in the Standard by
rosenstiel@cix.compulink.co.uk
Surprised not to see a thread here yet. See

-on-our-citys-subversive-south.do or http://snipurl.com/ubl23.
I don't entirely go along with Jenkins' thesis and note he gave a closure
period for Albert Bridge at variance with the photo attached to his
article (presumably an editorial rather than his cock-up). However, he...

Through ticketing from tube to rail by
martin
Having recently discovered that you can buy through tickets from tube
stations online, I have a U123 Londn to Evesham off-peak return
(with Railcard discount) for today.
I know that the off-peak restriction applies to the FGW service from
Paddington, but will the ticket be valid for tube connections in the
afternoon peak, ie if I leave home before 1900?
At least, from WebTIS retailers, like...

Same Destination, Opposite Direction by
John Ray[_3_]
I was on a number 17 bus the other day, destination Archway. As we
passed by St. Paul's Cathedral a number 4 bus, also destination Archway,
was heading in the opposite direction. I wonder how many other places
are there where one can catch a bus to the same destination from either
side of the road?

pronounciation - Brondesbury by
Fig
How do you pronounce Brondesbury?
When I lived nearby in Willesden Green, I always pronounced it
'Brondz-bury' but today heard a LO recorded announcement stating the train
would call at 'Bron-des-bury'

Why did Thameslink by-pass Crystal Palace? by
Alec 1SJ
Don't get me wrong: I don't want thameslink to come through Crystal
Palace or Gipsy Hill, but I might like some other lines to be extended
and so I wander why now that so many other stations in South London
get thameslink trains stopping, these stations get none?
