Bustitution around Liverpool Street over christmas by Tom Anderson
Evening all, Rambling and slightly self-indulgent post, sorry. Feel free to ignore! I would really rather like to make a 150-mile journey across the country on Christmas Eve, from Wivenhoe (near Colchester, out in Essex) to Swindon. Oh, the joys of the fissioned nuclear family. If i ask the NR journey planner about this, it says (and this is the last train, which is not quite what i'd...

The King's Cross St. Pancras nexus - a novelty tube map by Mr Thant
I thought people here might be interested in the diagram I've made of King's Cross and St Pancras, showing the passageways and routes around the whole complex in the style of the tube map (I know a proper floorplan would have been much more useful, but that turned out to be way too hard). Links and a bit more explanation are on my...

THIS IS MOHAMMED 24 by msk2000
The Romans cried out in anger when they heard this, so Heraclius quickly said, 'I was only pretending; I wanted to see how strong your faith was. I am pleased to see that you are true to your religion.' Heraclius then suggested that they attack or give land to the Muslims in order to maintain peace, but the Romans refused. Realizing that he could do no more, and knowing that one day Islam would...

Stratford - that DLR bridge by Paul Scott
Thanks to Mr Thant's photo on his blog today (4th of 4), I was wondering about the reasoning behind the Stratford DLR bridge, from platform 5 to new 4A/B. http://londonconnections.blogspot.com/2007/12/station-openings-today.html Clearly they are worried about people piling over the platform edge, hence the barrier, so why didn't the gap in line with the steps and the end of the bay (all of...

3 day Visitors Travelcard in London. by Jørgen Christensen
Hi. Could anyone please clarify a couple of questions for me? I have a Visitors Travelcard for zones 1 and 2 and I want to go from a station in zone 2 (Gloucester Road) to North Greenwich Tube station, which is on the borderline between zones 2 and 3. Is that allowed or is North Greenwich considered to be in zone 3? Is the Travelcard valid for all London buses in zones 1 to 6? I want to go...

Tube -- St Pancras Thameslink by granville27@googlemail.com
I am still unclear on what is the best way to change from tube -- St Pancras Thameslink. (Specifically from the Victoria line). At the moment it is very easy to change between the Vic line and Kings X Thameslink. What is the score with the new station? There doesn't seem to be much information out there and the new service begins on Sunday. Granville

Thameslink and LUL changes in King's Cross by Sky Rider
I know that the purpose of King's Cross Thameslink after December 9 has been discussed at length on Usenet before, but it looks like TfL have finally published some information related to this issue on the KXSP project pages. Shortly after the last FCC service departs from KCM at 01:06 LUL will claim ownership of the station, which thereafter will be open 07:00-20:00, Mon-Fri. They do not...

O.T. Vintage train in service in New York. by furles@mail.croydon.ac.uk
The MTA is to run a vintage train in service on a subway line on Sundays in December. http://www.mta.info/nyct/service/events/nostalgia.htm. I'm not sure how the age of it compares to our 38 stock, but I think it might be roughly comparable.
