Heathrow to Central London by MLD
Will be arriving at Heathrow early AM and plan to take the tube to Euston. Will be burdened with the usual luggage to cart around. Need some opinion on the degree of difficulty traveling with luggage on the train. Can I purchase an Oyster (Pay as you go) pass at Heathrow? Comments appreciated. MLD

In this 1917 book by Aleister Crowley, what was Grand Central Stationin London? by Offramp
In 1917 the British chess player Aleister Crowley published a novel. I have just started reading it. Part of the opening chapter (it is all online, by the way) reads: "Charing Cross Station, moreover, is the only true Metropolitan terminus. Euston, St. Pancras, and King's Cross merely convey one to the provinces,... Victoria and Paddington seem to serve the vices of Brighton and Bournemouth in...

There are fairly major changes to the NLL services coming up for most of this year, announced by TfL he http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/media/newscentre/11408.aspx "All peak time trains from Clapham Junction will now continue on to Stratford, instead of some terminating at Willesden Junction. Oyster PAYG to Slough? by Paul Scott
I noticed in one of last night's London freesheets that Ken is now taking a different tack after his recent let off from a FGW penalty fare last week, don't think I've missed a thread on it... He appeared to be trying to turn things round into the usual TOC bashing exercise, along the lines of 'I tried to get FGW to install barriers etc years ago etc'. But on the route in question FGW DO...

377 on Thameslink by John B
Just been to a meeting in London Bridge, for which I was 30 mins late due to Thameslink Programme-related amusement. Went to Farringdon to catch the 1029 to Brighton, which was initially reported as 2 mins late, then eventually turned up at 1035. To my mild surprise, it was a Southern-liveried 377/2 - didn't get the unit number. So the train pulled into the platform, with an FCC driver and...

The "Lasso Line" by Tim Roll-Pickering
Both the London Lite and the Evening Standard today carried news about changes to the Circle Line due this December. The level of journalism isn't the best - both talked about the "Hammersmith & City Line" being "extended" from Aldgate to Barking, so the reports may not be 100%...

Still can't get used to seeing trains with pantographs at Shortlands by Rupert Candy[_3_]

Central London Heathrow PAYG by Joe[_2_]
Hi all, Just trying to work out what the best way of doing Central London to Heathrow Airport on Oyster PAYG is (without using Piccadilly line). I heard that there was a bus from Hayes/Harlington so might be worth taking FGW or Heathrow Connect (interestingly their website says PAYG not valid but the map seems to disagree) to there before changing. Any better ways?

My last Thameslink visit to Moorgate by rosenstiel@cix.compulink.co.uk
I've been in London every day this week including Saturday, except, the law of Murphy and Sodde being very rigorous, for tomorrow. So I decided to get in a last trip from St Pancras to Moorgate tonight. I got the 18:20 from SPILL, intending to catch the 19:06 but in the end got the 18:40 from Moorgate so I could catch my usual 19:15 train back to Cambridge. The first confusion was my...
