Oyster Validation by
Zen83237
Does anybody know what the law actually says about validating an oyster
card. I questioned a revenue inspector at Watford Junc tonight regarding the
lack of validators on platforms 5 & 6 at Wembley Central and their view was
that a passenger was expected to hunt high and low for a validator or buy a
ticket. Since Oyster is valid on the Southern trains from Wembley Central
can they simpley...

That new station - the facts by
Paul Scott
There has been so much going on this week, I asked the TfL Press Office for
a simple summary.
"TfL have invested Billions upgrading the NLL & WLL, now known as the North
London Railway, or the London Overground (your choice), some key points are
listed below.
A couple of men in a van have fastened banners to all the lamp posts as far
as Watford Junction saying "under new management". It is...

New signs on London Overground by
bowroaduk@yahoo.com
Can users help track the spread of the London Overground brand across
the various parts of "London's new train set"? I understand that
initial plans are just to cover the existing National Rail linier
"banner" signs with stickers, then move to full Underground-style
square signs in time as stations are refurbished. In additon any
sighting of new LUL signage on the parts of the Bakerloo and...

I, for one, welcome our new newt-loving overlord by
Mizter T
Today Mayor Ken takes over the ex-Silverlink Metro routes such as the
North London Line as London Overground (LO). I specifically say Mayor
Ken as I don't think it would have happened without him lobbying the
government for this transfer of responsibilities. The inclusion of the
North London Railway (as the Silverlink Metro routes are now
collectively known) under TfL management was the result of...

Rant about DLR by
alex_t
November 2007 - and new DLR station in Stratford still operates only
with one platform. Second platform and footbridge are virtually
complete, with no construction work for the past month (and for the
platform no works for almost two months now) - so why they are not
open? In fact I don't really care about the second platform (it's not
like it will seriously improve current waiting times), but...

Routing in SE London by
Dave A[_2_]
Ah, the eternal routing guide questions.
I'm trying to work out if there is a point-to-point season ticket that
would be valid at both Crofton Park and Brockley for journeys to London.
I know the obvious answer is a Travelcard, but I'm specifically
interested in point-to-points - even if from further out.
At the moment I'm thinking Shortlands - London as you could potentially
use it via...

London rail season tickets to be priced zonally from 2010 by

ThisIsLondon / the Evening Standard have the following story of
interest, of which there is an extract below. Unfortunately the story
isn't precise on what the plans are to be - so I'll add my own
comments underneath the quoted text.

TfL did consider radical redesign of Tube Map
There's been a lot of discussion about the new Tube map that's coming
out this Sunday, 11th November. I've just received heads up from the
guys at iPM at BBC Radio 4 that they will be talking to the Curator of
the London Transport Museum and also to a person from...

Vital clue in the Watford Jn Oyster PAYG fares mystery... by
Mizter T
One big question mark over Oyster PAYG acceptance on London Overground
has been how fares north of Hatch End - i.e. outside the 6 London
zones - will be handled.
One incredibly obvious place to look, which I've only just thought of
(d'oh!), is of course the TfL "Single fare finder" he

TfL Wreath at the Service of Remembrance by
Ian Jelf
Looking at a recording of today's Service of Remembrance at the
Cenotaph, it appeared to me that the wreath laid on behalf of Transport
for London wasn't in the "Roundel" shape I seem to recall it being in
previous years.
Was I correct in my observations and - if so - does anyone know the
reason for the change?
I always thought it an especially appropriate and moving shape for a
such a...

Marylebone Amersham via Beaconsfield by
Walter Briscoe
On Saturday evening, I had to go from Barbican to Amersham. There was no
Met service north of Harrow-on-the-Hill from which a bus was running at
the cost of an extra hour. The Journey Planner suggested taking the
Marylebone to Birmingham Snow Hill service to Beaconsfield and a Rail
Replacement Bus to Amersham. I found no information on the Chiltern
Railways site about the cost of this with a...
