London Millennium Funicular by

London Millennium Funicular
A new funicular opened in London in 2003. It is at the north end of
the new Millennium foot bridge and leads from the bridge to the
embankment. It is located alongside an office building and appears to
be for disabled people. It is enclosed by glass panels with glass
doors at each end.

Old Red Lion - Kennington by
lonelytraveller
There's a pub on Kennington Park Road called The Old Red Lion. A
little to the north of Kennington tube station. Not far, just a train
length or so.
http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&ll=51.489213,-0.105325&spn=0.00167,0.003449&t=h&z=18
I drove past it the other day, and next door - a yard - had a large
hoarding round it. Marked "london underground", or similar.
Now kennington tube station is...

'TfL's 'Scrooge-like' £1 ticket for short-cut criticised' by
martin
on BBC London News this lunchtime:
"Transport for London (TfL) has been called "stingy" and "Scrooge-
like" for imposing a £1 charge on rail passengers using a short-cut
through a station."
Full story at http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/london/8484960.stm
What's the real deal here? Is this just a charge to enter one station
and exit another, or if I got the Jubilee to Southwark and...

London Bridge interchange by
Sir Benjamin Nunn
Does anybody know why - given that both Jubilee Line platforms were of
completely new build, and one of the Northern Line platforms was laterally
resited - the interchange was not made more convenient and accessible.
I've struggled to make the change every day for the last few weeks, walking
on crutches, and there must be about 70-80 stairs to traverse. Why?!?
The non-signposted change -...

Sunbury station car park by
Graham Harrison[_2_]
Does anybody know how well the car parks at Sunbury are used? Looking to
catch the 0916 next Wednesday and debating whether to leave time to find
alternative parking if the station is full (probably a good idea anyway!).

When is a travelcard not a travelcard? by
Tom Anderson
When it's to zone 9.
Woke up at a friend's place in Wallington, near Croydon and far from the
Pays du PAYG. Wanted to go home to god's own Finsbury Park, then visit a
convalescing friend in Watford and then come home again. So, bought a Z1-9
travelcard.
I happily used to the ticket to take the Southern to Victoria, the Vic to
FP and back to Euston, and London Midland to Watford Junction -...

ELL newsletter - not likely by
eastender[_4_]
A couple of people have emailed me about another ELL newsletter - I've
had the response:
'It would be nice to do one final one, but everyone is sooo busy in the
final stages, it possibly wont happen!'
I've offered to help them as I'm a publishing professional.

Oyster overcharging me at Marylebone by
KPJ Jones
I am increasingly being overcharged by Oyster PAYGO at Marylebone, when changing from the Bakerloo line to Chiltern Railways. To do this, you have to touch out of the Underground gates, and then touch in at the Mainline station gates. I have noticed on my statement twice in the last fortnight that due to some kind of clock problem, the touch-in was registered BEFORE the touch-out, and I have...

What Would You Do Women Dressed all in Black? by
SB
Interesting experience on the Bakelooo Line at the weekend. The
carriage had about 20 people in it, mainly scattered around. At Oxford
Circus two women (sans male escorts) entered one end of the carriage
and sat down. They were dressed all in black - like they do in Iraq /
Iran. They had the real slitty-eyed look. Well quite a few people
looked at them and then at each other and suddenly decided...

On Saturday I travelled around London on tubes and National Rail

over £17 in total. Some credit has been put back but I have still
been charged £14.60.

Kings Cross to Canning Town... by

Is the easiest option just the 205 bus to Mile End, then round the

With my railhead on, I was going to do HS1 from St Pancras to Stratford,
but I believe there's quite a bit of walking at both Stratford stations

best way to get around london for 3&half days by
shaunrobinson70
Hi all,
bringing my girlfriend down to London from pm-Wed 10th Feb until pm-Sat 13th Feb and was wondering what is the most economical and easiest way to travel round london. I visit 3 or 4 times a year but since it's her first time I expect she will mostly like to see the main touristy parts so should think we will probably be staying within zones 1-2.
I've only ever purchased day travelcards...

The Journey Planner is playing up this morning. I entered Phoenix Place
as my destination and received directions to Phoenix Palace (and yes, I
did check my spelling). I then tried entering WC1X 0DL (the postcode for
Freeling House, Phoenix Place) as my destination and received directions
to WC1X 9AR, Irish Centre Housing Ltd.
Strange.

SWT Closes Platform 1 Entrance/Exit at Feltham at 23.00 by
CJB
In a master stroke of inconsideration for hapless passengers trying to
get home late at night South West Trains - the company headed by a bus
driver - has in its wisdom - decided to make things really difficult
at Feltham Station.
At 23.00 to 06.30 it is now closing all entrances and exits at
platform 1 (on the up line). It just so happens that the major bus
station interchange is also situated...
