Waterloo - strange working by Neil Hitchens
Was waiting for the 16:12 to Basingstoke today and noticed a delayed train to Hounslow - stopping at Nine Elms Junction, West London Junction and Richmond then Hounslow. As I am 'merely' a daily commuter on SW Trains I am puzzled - was this a one off or something they didn't mean to show on the regular departure board. Thanks.

Victoria line suspension by brixtonite
The Victoria line has been suspended between Victoria & Brixton since this afternoon, due to a signal failure at Brixton. What are the chances that it'll still be closed tomorrow morning? I have to get to Stansted Airport by 7.15 and was hoping to get the first train (0526) from Brixton to Tottenham Hale, and then the 0607 to Stansted, but if there's a good chance it'll still be disrupted then...

Extra station on Crossrail? by Colin McKenzie
A Hammersmith MP writes (in a circular email): I believe there should be an additional station on the Crossrail line at Old Oak to interchange with the West London Line. It is technically possible to build this, but the economic case will depend on the success of the Overground system. My response: I agree an extra station would be beneficial, but I think it should interchange with...

Works unit only exit with hidden office on M11. What is it? by Boltar
Theres a works unit only exit on the M11 just south of J5 Loughton. I assumed this was just another gritter depot or police escape road but if you look on google earth theres some sort of office building with a neat car park on the western side. Anyone know what this is? Is it a motorway police station or something like that? B2003

OT- Thames Barrier Park by John Rowland
One of the more bizarre aerial photos I've found... reminiscent of a Mondrian. Now that Google Earth has entered into the common consciousness, developers will start to spend as much time worrying about the view from above as they do about the view from the ground, and we will see more and more of this sort of...

the AIM of LIFE by abdo911
What is your purpose in life? What is the rationale behind our life? Why do we live in this life? These questions frequently intrigue people who try to find accurate answers. People provide different answers to these questions. Some people believe the purpose of life is to accumulate wealth. But one may wonder: What is the purpose of life after one has collected colossal amounts of money? What...

Stephen Parascandolo by Arthur Figgis
Croydon tram no.2535 was named "Stephen Parascandalo" in a ceremony at the non-preferred platform of Beckenham Junction tram stop this afternoon. The name commemorates the founder of the unofficial Tramlink website, signaling engineer and poster to these groups, who was killed in a car crash in February - today's naming was on what would have been his 27th birthday. Tramlink general manager...

Thameslink 2000 question by unrealpolitik@gmail.com
The other day I was going from King's Cross to London Bridge. I was on my way down to the tube, but as I passed the Thameslink platforms there was a southbound train sitting there, so I jumped on that on the assumption it would be quicker. It wasn't. At all. When TL2000 is finished, will such journies actually be quicker? Or will Thameslink trains continue to trundle through the city at...
