LU Software Demo by Peter Smyth
At http://gaia.world-television.com/ms/20070119/ there is a rather cool demonstration of some internal London Underground software that is currently in development. I won't spoil the suprise but I think you will be impressed. To access it go to the Live Keynote Webcast and skip forward to the 39 minute mark. Peter Smyth

Dartford Crossing: real time info on QEII Bridge closures? by Helen Edith Stephenson
My employer has recently banished me to Basildon, which means that I'm taking a sudden interest in the wind component of weather forecasts. I know that the QEII Bridge was closed one day about a month ago when wind speeds were approaching 30mph, and I wonder whether there's any more reliable way of predicting bridge closures than just checking the weather forecast. I've got the provision to...

London Bridge this morning by Dubba
I arrived at about 9.15 to find Joiner St crammed with people not going anywhere. There were no announcements about what was happening but it looked like the Underground station was closed. Anyone know what happened? MTD

Road Pricing Petition-sign up. by Paul Cummins
In article , (The DA) wrote: Why would those who are in favour of the government's proposal bother registering their approval? That's not the way it works. I refuse to be dictated to by a vocal minority. That's exactly how Parliament is formed. The current government were voted for by less than 25% of the population.

Last nights Primeval by Dave
Last nights episode featured giant spiders etc. on the Underground. There was one shot of Arsenal station and presumably Aldwych was used for shots with the train and tunnel entrance. But there were several scenes of tunnels with curved walls of brickwork but not tiled. Were these some of the long disused tunnels at Aldwych that I don't think were never used. Dave

DEcongestion zone map by Andrew
Motorists who feel aggrieved by the extension of the London charging zone have some positive assistance this week with the launch of a new easy-to-read bus map for London. Really it's a DEcongestion zone, freeing up the city for walking, faster buses, and just better breathing all round. Quickmap's new London by Bus map makes sense of decongestion, helps Londoners survive tube closures and...

Transfer times between London Bridge and Paddington by Martin J
Wonder if anyone here can shed some light on this. My colleague was checking both TFL's travel planner and National Rail's website for transfer times for a Saturday AM between the above- mentioned stations. TFL were pretty optimistic, quoting just over 20 mins, using Jubilee to Baker Street, then Bakerloo. National Rail seemed to have very little faith in London Underground's services and quoted...

Non-terminus by Tristán White
Can anyone explain in two sentences why, if someone has a NR return ticket from London-XXXXXX-London, which is valid for any route, they are not allowed to leave at Farringdon? Why is there discrimination on people leaving the network at a station which is not a terminus. I don't understand it. Why is it not to any NR station within Zone 1. It doesn't affect me particularly, but I just...
