London Underground signal failures by jamessan@hotmail.co.uk
Why is it some signal failures seem to shut the line down. I was on the Circle line yesterday when there was a signal failure at High Street Kensington and the service was suspended. Is this because the signal affected was for the junction so trains were not allowed to go past it ? I thought if the signal was stuck on red the driver was allowed to go past it but are there special rules at...

Victoria line today around 1030 by Tom Anderson
Afternoon all, Got the Vic at Finsbury Park, heading for Euston. Got as far as King's Cross more or less alright. Then got an announcement: "this train is being held here, as there is planned engineering work at Victoria; the engineers will be on the line for about ten minutes". Got off and headed over to the Northern line, to get to Euston; as i went down the escalator, heard an...

A13 Closure by Kev
Is the Aldgate one way system actually shut? The AA says that the A13 is closed between the B134 Brick Lane and the B108 New Rd/Cannon St but it doesn't mention the one way system. Can you get from Commercial St to Leman St? Kevin

Oyster Journey History - can anyone explain this? by sweek
This is my journey history for last Saturday. I was already expecting this all to go wrong, and I think it did here... but can anyone tell me exactly what happened? Basically, I left from home and went to Bow Road where I met up with friends, to then travel to Clapham Common together starting at Bow Church. Because Bow Road - Bow Church is an official transfer I suppose it saw that as a transfer...

Bullying Oyster error codes by Walter Briscoe
I was recently doing a lot of London Underground journeys with a pay as you go adult Oyster card which is registered without automatic top-up. As I entered the system, I noticed a red message flash by. When I took time to look, I saw it said "Seek Assistance" and did so. A Customer Service Assistant told me it was a code 94 error which means "Card comms failed" but was unable to enlighten me...

Paddington platforms by Jack Taylor
Wolfgang Schwanke wrote: The reason I'm asking is I'm having second thoughts now. It looks very unspectacular, really just another platform in the main railway station with LU logos. They could well have relocated the platform used by Underground trains in all those years. Or is it still the original place? Yes and no. One face is still the original.

Where's this? by Tristلn White
http://snipurl.com/19cg2 I think it's Tottenham Court Road, at least ten years ago. It's for a quiz I'm doing - guess the film. All I really want to know for sure is whether or not it's TCR - I'll then work out what film it is from that.

Snowy train scene by
In a number yesterdays Evening Standard and todays Times they had what looked to be the same photo of the tube in a snowy scene. Am I right in saying they were two Northern Line trains passing each other? Not sure whereabouts on the line they are though.

Euston Square Undrground Station by NewTuber
does anyone know why the entrance to Euston Square tube station in the corner of the Wellcome Trust building has never been properly finished? Is there some reason for the hold up or does LUL just take forever to do everything? NT

fare dodgers by Edward Cowling London UK
In message , Wolfgang Schwanke writes The part I don't understand is why they do this in the first place. I thought the LU system is rather "fraud safe". You can't get in or out of the system without some form of valid ticket (except by climbing over the gates or taking a detour to a DLR station), so hunting down fare dodgers should be...

I regret to say that I have just been informed that he was killed today in a road crash, being the driver of the Vauxhall mentioned in http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/beds/bucks/herts/6339357.stm. -- Clive D.W. The Mayor has suspended the plan to run the Underground service half an hour later on friday and saturday nights because, he states, of problems getting in agreed with with two of the unions, ASLEF and the RMT. Two other unions, the TSSA and the far smaller British Transport Operators' Guild, have agreed to the proposals. The press release from the Mayor's statement is...
