Default The Spread Of London's Underground by Tim Demuth

"John Rowland" wrote in message ...
Hi all,

New book on sale in the LT Museum shop in Covent Garden. It's GBP10, but is
a fairly slim volume. It includes a tube map for each ten year period, all
drawn in the same modern style, and text giving all (or most?) changes in
that decade. In the back is a future Underground map, which is interesting,
but contains a major blunder, which I will leave for other people to find as
an exercise.

Crossrail lines 1 and 2 are on it. But line 1 only goes from Heathrow
Terminal 5 to Stratford and Isle of Dogs (situated between Devons Road
and All Saints). Crossrail 2 has both Chelsea Harbour and Clapham
Junction options, with both sections meeting at East Putney.
Thameslink is included, with the spur to Moorgate. There is no DLR
extension to City Airport of North Woolwich. The line from Stratford
to North Woolwich is still classed as National Rail. Park Royal is
still just Piccadilly Line. Metropolitan Line goes to Watford Junction
via Croxley (trains from Amersham and Moor Park). Victoria Line does
not proceed to Northumberland Park. The East London Line extension is
included but terminates at Finsbury Park and Highbury & Islington in
the north, and Wimbledon, Crystal Palace, West Croydon, and New Cross
in the south. I believe the choice is now Clapham Junction rather than
Wimbledon. There are other potential extensions or changes missing but
these I think are still speculative.
