Default Broken Down Train - Major Rail Disruption on Brighton Line

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standa...-disruption.do

Thousands of mainline rail commuters suffered major disruption today
after a broken down train blocked busy routes into London.

It broke down between Haywards Heath and Gatwick Aiport causing long
delays for First Capital Connect, Southern and Gatwick Express
services throughout the morning peak.

Trains stacked up behind one another with others diverted adding an
hour and a half to many journeys.

Brighton to Gatwick Aiport trains were diverted via Lewes. Replacement
buses operated between Brighton and Haywards Heath.

The empty Southern Railways service heading towards London broke down
just before Gatwick Airport around 6 am.

This halted north bound services out of Brighton including packed
trains to Victoria. The stricken train was cleared around 8 am but
there were huge knock-on delays.
