Default [OT] High-resolution population density data for London?

Hi all,

Any idea where one would go to get a map of population density in London
that was a bit more detailed than the one he

?

By ward would be great.

Also, is population density usually defined as total population over total
area, or total population over area used for housing? If the former, i can
see that boroughs like Waltham Forest and Richmond might look rather less
dense than they 'really' are.

PS Have i asked this here before? It's certainly something i've wondered
often enough ...
