Bendy buses - speed of boarding

I know a few other people have mentioned this, but once we're into the
New Year with flat £1 pre-pay cash fares everywhere, there are going
to be many more people using 70p Saver tickets on bendy buses. These
people will have to board at the driver's door, completely defeating
the object of 3-door loading/unloading.

However, there is a very simple answer to this problem - have a Saver
ticket "bin" at each door, where you could drop your
"Driver/Conductor" part of the ticket as you board.

Why on earth has this not been done?

It would "completely" defeat the object only if nobody used bus passes or
Travelcards. Anyway, why is this not a problem already since people can
use 65p Savers instead of the £1 Zone 1 fare? You seem to be clutching at
straws to denigrate these buses because they get in your way as a cyclist.

Agreed - I've suggested this before. To avoid anyone retrieving the
ticket for re-use, it could be a closed post box with a "carriage key"
style lock on it. All inspectors could be issued with the appropriate
key, and in the event of an inspection the ticket stubs could be
retrieved.

Only trouble is that, if the inspection took place late in the day,
the bins would be quite full, and it'd be difficult to see which
journey they were for. That said, the driver could possibly be asked
to empty them while laying over at the terminus?
