And you no doubt did nothing daft when you were young.

We're talking about kids with spray paint, not submachine guns.

Kids? Reported as one aged 19, and two aged 23.

And I suspect I'd be told it's unacceptable to accuse all the main
opposition parties of wanting to "give kids the vote" by lowering the
voting age to 16.

Two of them were 23: at that age, I had a master's degree and a good
job. The other was 19: at that age I was working hard for my first
degree. I certainly wasn't going out vandalising things.

Indeed, and no-one advocates capital punishment for their offence. But
they were still vandals, deliberately putting themselves in a very
dangerous position. I'd have a lot more sympathy if they were trying
to do good when they were accidentally killed, not damage.

It's great that you cut my 2-line message down to 1 line. Oh, I know.
You did it because the internet is clogged, and we're all on dial-up,
and you wanted to save everyone the effort of reading my two lines when
you could benefit humanity by cutting it down to one. Really honourable.

And you no doubt did nothing daft when you were young.

I also did a few daft things. But not the same extremely daft and illegal thing repeatedly.

We're talking about kids with spray paint, not submachine guns.

I also have little sympathy for people who repeatedly dash across STOP level crossings and eventually get hit by a train, bringing the entire train service to a standstill on two lines for half a day.

I imagine that there are some people who see the videos of these people being struck by trains and feel a profound sense a grief, as if there has been a huge disturbance in the Force. I admit that I feel no such "Why wasn't it me?" pangs.

Indeed, there are a lot of heartless old sods out there.

The Guardian's "Art and Design" section has further coverage, including
a picture of some impromptu redecoration at the station entrance.
Readers unsympathetic to criminal damage may wish to look away now.

Here's a hint to anyone tempted to follow their example: the word
"insane" does *not* apply to the train.
