Buses on Exhibition Road
http://www.rbkc.gov.uk/Environmental..._roadintro.asp
On their Exhibition Road pages, RB Kensington & Chelsea claim that they have persuaded TfL to provide bus services along Exhibition Road in the future. I always assumed that buses were never provided along Exhibition Road as they would be unable to cope with the traffic - people exhausted from walking around the museums might suddenly decide to plump for a bus if they see one right outside. The destination of the 360 is always advertised as "South Kensington Museums" on its blinds, but in reality it travels up Queen's Gate and terminates on Prince Consort Road outside Imperial College Union - useful for the Albert Hall but not really for the museums. It doesn't pick up on Prince Consort Road either, only from outside Imperial's Huxley Building on Queen's Gate, and at the junction of Queen's Gate and Cromwell Road (conceivably useful for the NHM but in reality as far away as South Kensington station & bus stops). Does anyone have any info or speculation on what buses might run along Exhibition Road and how well that might work given the proposed plans? http://www.alwaystouchout.com/project/110 might be useful as a bit of shameless self-promotion. -- Dave Arquati Imperial College, SW7 www.alwaystouchout.com - Transport projects in London |
