Default Other Metro working on 25/12?

Just wondered if anyother city transport closes on 25/12 like our
underground?
I have been to a number of Eastern European cities at that time and find all
public transport stops at about 18:00 on 24/12. Our tube goes until midnight
on 24/12 - will we adopt their timetables???

Seems unlikely to me. One thing to bear in mind is that in many countries,
including most eastern european ones, if memory serves, christmas eve is
the most important part of christmas, more so than christmas day, so staff
are going to want to be at home then. Unless British attitudes to
christmas change substantially, i imagine we'll carry on having public
transport on christmas eve.

In the Orthodox parts of Europe Xmas isn't in December, is it?

Actually, "Bonzo" was right - the Orthodox celebrate Christmas on 6
January.

Some Orthodox sects still use the Julian Calendar for Christmas, putting
it on January 7th Gregorian.

Rings a bell, but there sure is plenty of celebration in Greece on the run
up to the 25th. Mind you Christmas and Easter become more and more
commercialised each year, there were 3 times the number of adverts for eggs
on Alpha this easter compared with last...
