Default Moorgate beyond Thameslink

Is there a suitable/cost effective way of LUL using the additional spare
platforms at Moorgate station once the Thameslink services no longer use the
branch?

I don't think so. LU already have two extra platforms at Moorgate that are
rarely used so there is no reason why they would need another two.

Fill in the bays and install shops - generate more revenue than any
actual trains.

Extend the DLR from Bank to Moorgate, Barbican and Farringdon.
Terminate at cross platform interchange on existing LUL carriage
sidings at Farringdon. Direct link from City Airport etc.

Why not burrow out to the east to join up with Crossrail (yeuk) and dive
down to the west to join up with Crossrail (yeuk).

P.S. I don't like Crossrail!

They are used very often to reverse late running Mets, H&C and Circle
line trains during service disruption. If the cost was right it would
be a good idea

Because digging two subsurface-to-deep portals in the middle of the City
to exploit less than a mile of track isn't cost-effective. I've dreamed up
any number of schemes like this to use the Moorgate stub, but the
shallowness of the line pretty much clobbers all of them - anything they
connected to would need to be subsurface or surface level, else it'd be
cheaper and easier just to build a new deep-level tunnel instead, and
there just isn't anything at that level in that area that it makes sense
to connect to (unless the chance ever comes up to use the line as part of
a link from Farringdon to Liverpool Street - rather unlikely!).

The best idea i've heard is to use the stub for some sort of tram.

P.S. I don't like Crossrail!

Nor do i. And i like trams even less!

Put old trains in it and make it part of the Museum Of London at Barbican.

Isn't the DLR at Bank a) too deep, b) facing the wrong way, and c)
blocked by the bank of England's vaults even if those two problems
could be overcome? I think that one might be a bit of a non-starter I'm
afraid.
