For a while now the automated announcer on Jubilee line trains has had
a different voice. Well, partly. The voice that announces the station
you're at and tells you what lines you can change to is different, but
the voice which announces where the train terminates is the same. Does
anyone know the reason for this change? I rather miss the old voice,
the new one sounds like a drunk upper class prostitute (or at least how
I'd imagine one to sound).

travel quickly!!

If you do find out, don't tell her what I said about her!

At least it's been updated - the on-train announcement at Bank on the
Central Line still refers to interchange with Network SouthEast
services!

On a related topic, anyone remember the JL staffer who did platform
announcements (he may have been a driver)? I never actually heard him in
action, but was hoping to interview him for the Jubilee line staff and
customer magazines back in 1998-99. However the management weren't so
keen as he was apparently contravening some condition of his employment
and 'had been warned'. Several passengers wrote very positive letters
about him to the magazine, which I don't think we were able to publish.

Emma Clarke is the new voice of the Underground.

The Summer edition of "tube" states she's the voice of the Bakerloo &
Victoria lines - soon to be heard on the Central, Circle, Hammersmith
& City lines and parts of the District line.

Regards,
Bart

Only parts of the district? Does she know how to pronounce Plaistow?

At a guess, it probably means she'll be doing the voice for the C stock
trains but not the D stock trains.

She better if she's going to be doing the Hammersmith and City line.
