IIRC the new station has been described as 'Shoreditch High St' ever
since the plans were first made public.


Numerous stations have had their names changed at the last minute, often
after platform roundels had already been made installed. "Shoreditch High
St" makes sense as a planning name, but it makes little sense as a permanent
name.


Surely it's to avoid confusion with the recently-closed Shoreditch
station? If the new station were also called Shoreditch, anyone
looking at the Tube map would think the line had merely been extended
northwards from the existing station and that it was still in its old
location.
