Some kind of signalling problem near Liverpool Street area nuked the
service at around 5.30pm. The above story says the whole line was out
of action - a later radio travel report I heard suggested that the
line wasn't running between White City and Leytonstone, maybe the
situation changed over time though. Regardless, most definitely not
the sort of thing that should be happening.

No trains at all at White City at 1815, and hordes of people milling
about not knowing what to do. The poor dears obviously didn't think to
wander out of the station and catch a bus.

Well, perhaps they didn't have an encyclopaedic knowledge of bus routes.
So which bus would you have caught to get to Ruislip, then? (And no
cheating by using the Journey Planner!) And perhaps they thought that a
signal failure at Liverpool Street might possibly not prevent some sort
of service west of White City.

Incidents like that used to result in an online apology and explanation
from LU, but it seems to be LU policy not to do so these days. Nothing
on the TfL site about it this morning.
