Default Stratford to Woolwich - wither?

The logic of cutting back the NLL to Stratford and replacing it with
a DLR extension is lost on me. It would have been better IMHO to
have just converted the Silvertown stretch to Light Rail [...]

But the DLR *is* light rail!!! (The clue's in the name!)

At the end the NLL service to North Woolwich was half-hourly (unlike
every 15 mins west of Stratford - i.e. one in two trains turned back
at Stratford). The DLR extension to Woolwich Arsenal via City Airport
serves Silvertown and North Woolwich far better than the NLL ever did
(and the DLR Beckton branch serves Custom House). The old NLL
alignment from Canning Town up to Stratford will get a far better
service under the DLR too, along with three new stations at Star Lane,
Abbey Road and Stratford High Street.

The alignment from Canning Town eastwards to North Woolwich is
reserved for Crossrail (the Abbey Wood via Canary Wharf branch).

I can't help thinking that this was all discussed to death prior to the
closure - it was effectively an agreed handover of the NLL tail end because
the DLR proposals were better all round - particularly for the airport. But
all that is ancient history - all the alternative project options for the
area used to be on the TfL website, but no sign of them now. I don't think
E27002's kite is going to fly...
