Taxis are fine in moving traffic but very expensive in traffic jams.

I took a big load of new computer equipment home to Burnt Oak on a
Saturday for £25, from Evesham Computers in Central London. Did a mile
and a half in the snow last night *extremely* slowly, which was £10
(very decent cab driver though, didn't want to be paid but I insisted)

IKEA quoted £25 for a cab to take me + purchase home (4.5 miles).
Thought 'stuff this', went to adjacent Tesco (Brent Park) & got a
minicab for £8.
