I suspect in many cases the longer routes are intended to ease
passenger flow and if everyone took the shortcuts used by "regulars"
it would simply result in a mass scrum with crowds travelling in
opposite directions., but, never mind, it'sfun to laugh at the silly
foreigners going the wrong way in the smug satisfaction that you are
much cleverer than them, isn't it?
