I think he possibly meant Barnes Bridge, but AIUI they go either way in
both directions, I believe it depends on how close they are to their
planned paths, but they are diagrammed both ways at various times anyway.

The trains I took on Monday went up via Richmond and down via Brentford
and Hounslow.
