There is no transmission of Train Desciptions (Destinations) at all
on the Hammersmith branch, nor is there a diagram of the area
mentioned above. Edgware Road (do get TDs from Baker Street and
Earl's Court) and Hammersmith signal cabins simply route the trains
according to timetable order unless advised otherwise.
The latter is true for another Z1 area of the SSR.
Elsewhere on the Piccadilly line for instance, trains do have TDs,
so the Dot Matrix piggybacks off of this. It is not unknown though
for one system to be correct and the other not!
Do you know why Baron's Court's Picc indicator board no longer work?
I'm assuming it's been replaced with a new facsimile of the old one
that needs the new Picc signalling to control it. As that's years
away, would this mean that it'll be dead for a very long time to
come?
Pass. Is it a new style one? I think the old one was a light box.
I believe that the new ones work with the old equipment (Gloucester
Road District and Acton Town come to mind).
It's an 'heritage' style lightbox with illuminated arrows, but I think
it's actually a replacement for the old one.
