There are some "Drives", such as Kelly Drive in Philadelphia, and I
think Lake Shore Drive in Chicago that are similar to parkways.

Lake Shore Drive replaced parkways. North of downtown, it was replaced
with an expressway in 1937. South of downtown, it was replaced with an
expressway in the early '50's. Trucks aren't allowed, a la the old
parkway traffic code, but generally as bridges were reconstructed and
lanes were replaced, quite a lot of it was rebuilt to interstate
standards, although not all of it.

In downtown, there are several intersections controlled with traffic lights.
