Default Assorted London Rail Network Questions (NR/LUL)

Only strangers would go east beyond Edgware Road from Paddington via the
Lawn ticket hall. It is worth the pain of walking to catch trains from
Hammersmith at Paddington (Suburban) platform 16. This will continue to
be a mess until new facilities are in place.

We travelled South Ken to Baker Street sub-surface yesterday, and there were
plenty of passengers lugging suitcases etc. across the Edgware Road
platform. Serve'em right for being "strangers", eh?

We changed into an S class northbound at Baker Street. When new they rode
relatively comfortably but this early one was no better than end-of-life
A-stock. At one station stop it started to drive/roll backwards (about 1/3
of a car-length) then - after a significant pause - motored forward to the
correct(?) stopping position. Is this common?
