The canopy over one of the entrances in Charing Cross Road has the

ever been more of these on the Underground, and why is it like that?

It hasn't always been like that. It used to be the same as the others
but stretched out so far that lorries turning out of Cranbourn St used
to hit it. It was demolished a few years back by such an accident. I
believe it was reinstated in its current style when the station had
its modernisation work done by Tube Lines. Quite why it ended up like
that I am not sure but possibly to blend in with other canopies on
that particular building. My desk used to overlook that entrance.

Thanks, Paul. This group would be nothing without you!
