This is something that could have been considered for Crossrail.
Crossrail could have had more stations, with express trains skipping
the "local" stations.

Of course costs would have risen exponentially.


Essentially Crossrail is the express service and the Central line is the
local service. Slightly different from New York as they don't follow each
other exactly but the same basic idea.
