I prefer the word "average", unless you mean "normal" in the

You could, of course, be more precise, by specifying what kind of
"average" person you mean: mean, mode or median. I quite like "mean"
in this context.

To avoid that type of overthinking, maybe "typical" would be a better

hence the reason why I didn't use it in the first place ;-(
