The DfT have announced funding to construct 4 new stations on the rail
network. Some are reopenings of former closed stations. None of the
schemes are fully funded by the DfT - there is only a part
contribution.

The stations are Ilkeston, Lea Bridge, Newcourt and Pye Corner (near
Newport Wales).

There's more info on this in this month's MR, and there is, indeed, a 5th
station receiving funding:
Ilkeston is to receive 4.5 million against a scheme costing 6.5M
Lea Bridge receives 1 million towards a total of 6M
Newcourt receives 50% of the estimated 1.5 million
and Pye Corner receives 2.5 million out of the 3.5 required.

In addition Kenilworth is to receive up to 5 million towards the 11
required. But this has been made more complicated due to capacity
enhancements and electrification to the line planned in addition to the new
station

I've said my piece about the folly of re-opening Lea Bridge Station in a thread
that seems to have disappeared. But I would like to know: Who is going to
put up the remaining £5 million?
