How odd. They are credit card sized (and mine is even a credit card
too) so the wallet is the obvious place to keep them.

than one or two people.
You should come to Ely on a Saturday morning... queues of four or
five at ATMs are commonplace.
So don't try in Ely on a Saturday morning then!
