A non-London-resident child?

Travelling on their own?

Happens all the time. When I was in my teens I would quite often travel
up to London and spend a day wandering around museums. And there's
plenty of people of my parents' generation who don't have credit cards.

Contactless cards don't have to be credit cards though. My debit card is
contactless, my credit card isn't. That makes sense as I am not likely
to us my credit card, offline, for sub £20 transactions.

I suppose the next question is are contactless debit cards only given to
a sub-set of customers, maybe with a pre-authorised overdraft?
