Default The Fleet Line - Don't Jubilee've It!

There's only one current line with a made-up composite name like that: the
Bakerloo. And only one other one has a name based on its end points at all:
the Hammersmith and City.

Except only one end point is mentioned (the other is now Barking, though
I accept it was originally Farringdon).

What about both the Piccadilly and the Central? Those names derive from
the original intended end-points (Great Northern and Piccadilly Railway
and Central London Railway). Someone has already mentioned the Waterloo and City.

The Piccadilly, like the Victoria, is named after a prominent point in the
middle of the line, but neither end point (the predecessor GN&PR proposal
wasn't really relevant by the time the line was built and named). The
Central name relates to the fact that it was the first line to pass through
central London; the subsurface lines went round the centre, and the
original CSLR didn't quite get to the centre. That means the Central line
still has a relevant name, despite the multiple extensions at both ends.

So, if you're going to have geographic names, it's probably better to pick
a prominent central point, rather than end points, as the latter are quite
likely to change, as has happened several times with the Bakerloo, and is
likely to happen yet again.
