Vintage Bus Event

Hi All

We are taking the unusual step of using our Warminster Vintage Bus Running
Day email database to notify you of the following Vintage Bus event that is
being organised at fairly short notice - apologies if it is not of interest
to you. If you would prefer us not to send you this sort of information
again, please let us know.

Some of you may be aware that Stagecoach West have been planning a special
vintage bus event to comemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Cheltenham
District Traction Company

We have now been advised that this is definately going to take place on
Saturday 8th May and will include the opportunity to ride on a number of
vintage buses, most of which will be appropriate to the
Cheltenham/Gloucester area.

The basic itinerary for the day has now been confirmed and is as follows:

1030 - 1130 Display of old and new buses at Cheltenham Racecourse

1130 - 1200 Parade of vehicles from Racecourse to Cheltenham Royal
Well Bus Station
and Promenade (enthusiasts will be welcome to travel
on the vehicles);

1200 - 1700 Approx 50% of service 94 will be operated by new Tridents
and 50% by...
- Cheltenham District Bristol FSF
- Bristol Omnibus Bristol LD
- 2 Bristol RE's
some of which are currently being retested to PSV
standard especially for the day.

1200 - 1700 Free Service from the Promenade along the line of the
original Cheltenham District Traction
company's service 1 to Southam using...
- Up to 3 Bristol L's
- Bristol MW
- Bristol KSW
- Bristol SU (from Mikes Travel)
- Stagecoach series 2 Bristol VR
and possibly one or two other surprises as well !

Detailed vehicle workings should be available from the end of this week - if
you would like a copy before the day, please drop an email to us at

As the event is being organised at short notice, Stagecoach have asked us to
help them publicise the events to enthusiasts but unfortunately our ability
to do this largely limited to posting this message on the ukbus-SouthWest
and Bristol Omnibus Company Yahoo Groups, plus emailing enthusiasts who
attended Warminster last year. Therefore any help you can give in
circulating details of the event to other enthusiasts (including posting
this message on any other approriate email groups that you may be a member
of) I am sure would be much appreciated (apologies if this means that some
of you get this message more than once).

In addition, if you own a former Bristol Omnibus / Cheltenham & District
vehicle and would be willing to allow it to participate in this event, Ian
Manning and Sholto Thomas at Stagecoach would still be keen to hear from
you. Fuel costs will be met for all participating preserved buses and you
can contact them by writing to:

Stagecoach West
3rd Floor,
65 London Road
Gloucester.

Tel. 01452 418630 or email

Alternatively you can simply reply to this email and we will be happy to
forward your message on to them.
