Although the effect is much more than 24hrs.

From TfL email:

"there will be no Tube service from late afternoon on Wednesday 8 July
and no Tube service at all on Thursday 9 July."

So that's at least 36hrs.

Isn't that true of all the one or two day strikes? They always start
during the middle of one day, and so screw up at least one extra day.

Entirely planned.

I've noticed how last time there was a stike the ****s didn't stand around
tube stations with their banners. Probably get so much well deserved abuse
from the public they decided not to risk it again.
