The 27 four-car Class 387/2 EMUs are scheduled to enter service between
London Victoria station and Gatwick airport in 2016,
Starting in June 2015, and completed by the end of the year, according to
the franchisee. Oh dear.
Is *everything* to do with the railways a year late nowadays?
It's not late at all, is it? The order was only signed last November.
They must have signed the order late, because back in September 2014
when the combined TSGN franchise started they issued a flyer saying that
the new Gatwick Express fleet would start entering service in June 2015.
The next deadline they are likely to miss (MizterT vapourware alert!!)
are "Franchise wide smart ticketing" and "Oyster extensions" arriving in
September 2015.
Yawn!
The key readers and validators are being installed all over the Great
Northern route - I've seen the photos of the installed kit on uk rail
forums. I expect TSGN are deliberately not installing anything at Ely
just to annoy you!!!
You'd have thought they would have learned by now!
It also seems Oyster is going to reach High Speed between St P and
Stratford International from 31 July 2015.
That's good news.

Also to Hertford East in the near future.

What about the other places?
