2016 is of course a leap year, I recall my (late) mother who was paid
on a monthly basis also being paid for an extra day in February each

Nope the same each month i.e. yearly salary divided by 12 but as in a
leap year there are 366 days rather than 365 she got an extra days
pay then

Yep. If you're paid daily or weekly the extra day in a leap year makes
no difference but if monthly you work one day free in a leap year
