Default Bushey gap

According to the OS 1:25000 map, there is a stretch of undeveloped
land by Larken drive at TQ 142 942. It is perfectly straight and runs
both sides of Sparrows Herne (the A411). Is it connected with the
abortive Northern Line extension? Or maybe it was a planned route for
the M25?

Can't help with the reason, however from your description it's definitely
not there in connexion with the Bushey Heath line. The BH extension would
have run more-or-less straight from Edgware station to the A41/Spur Road
roundabout (i.e. the roundabout to the east of Canons Corner), and then
parallel to but just east of the A41 as far as the A5 roundabout at Elstree,
where is would have curved west and run parallel with the A41 to the
A411/A41 roundabout, where Bushey Heath station would have been. Larken
Drive is a good 2km west of this; I've never seen any plan of the extension
that took it anywhere near here.
