Hi all,

According to the OS 1:25000 map, there is a stretch
of undeveloped land by Larken drive at TQ 142 942.
It is perfectly straight and runs both sides of Sparrows
Herne (the A411). Is it connected with the abortive
Northern Line extension? Or maybe it was a planned
route for the M25?

How wide is it?

On the map it looks about 50 metres wide, but the built-on alignment north
of Edgware looks nearly as wide on the 1:25000, and there is no way that
that is anywhere near 50 metres wide.

It looks a lot narrower than the green swathe through South Oxhey at Burnley
Close, South Oxhey, which can also be seen in land boundaries at Wessex
Drive in Hatch End, and was presumably left (for a while) for a northbound
extension of George V Avenue, so maybe it's too narrow for a motorway.
