No, a Hybrid car is a petrol engined car with electric assistance.
You can easily get similar fuel consumption out of a Golf PD Diesel
although
some would prefer the Prius for it's alleged environmental benefits.
There are undoubtedly cars that have better CO2 or fuel figures but they are
usually a) small cramp cars b) tiny slow engines with terrible performance
or more usually c) a+b
Besides which I reckon Diesel will be the next big crack down since 4* is
gone.
